Booking
How far in advance should I book my bridal henna?
For weddings we recommend booking 3 to 6 months ahead, especially for peak wedding season and festival dates. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible, so it’s always worth asking.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A deposit secures your date and is deducted from your final balance. We’ll confirm the exact amount and payment details with your personalised quote.
When should I have my bridal mehndi done?
Ideally one to two days before your wedding. The stain peaks around 48 hours after application, so your colour will be at its darkest on the big day.
Do you travel to my home or venue?
Yes, Relikka is a mobile service. We’re based in Manchester and cover Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas, including Cheshire, Lancashire, West Yorkshire and the Derbyshire High Peak. A travel charge may apply for longer distances.
How much does bridal henna cost?
Bridal packages start from £140 for hands to the wrist. The final price depends on coverage, design detail, feet add-ons and travel. Guest and party henna starts from £10 per hand. Get in touch for a tailored quote.
About henna
What is henna?
Henna (mehndi) is temporary body art made from the dried, powdered leaves of the henna plant. Mixed into a paste, it leaves a natural reddish-brown stain on the skin.
Is your henna natural and safe?
Yes. We freshly make our cones from natural henna powder, sugar and essential oils, with no PPD or “black henna”. Henna is generally very well tolerated, but please let us know about any allergies before your appointment and we can arrange a patch test.
How long does henna last?
Usually around 1 to 3 weeks, depending on your skin type, the area and your aftercare. Palms and fingertips stain darkest and last longest.
How long does it take to apply?
Simple designs take about 15 to 30 minutes per person. Bridal mehndi can take anywhere from 2 hours to over 8 hours for full, intricate coverage.
Can I customise my design?
Absolutely, that’s what we love! We can include names, initials, portraits of the couple, wedding motifs, religious symbols or anything meaningful to you.
Do you offer different colours?
Natural henna gives a reddish-brown to deep maroon stain. For a dark blue-black, tattoo-like look, we also offer plant-based jagua, which lasts around 8 to 10 days.
Special cases
Is henna safe during pregnancy?
Natural henna is generally considered safe, and we regularly do belly blessings for baby showers. We recommend checking with your midwife or healthcare professional first.
Is henna suitable for children?
Natural henna is generally safe for children with parental consent and supervision. We keep designs small and quick for little ones.
Can henna go over a scar or birthmark?
Yes, though the colour may be lighter on scar tissue than on the surrounding skin.
Can I swim with henna on?
We recommend avoiding swimming, chlorine and long soaks, as they fade the stain much faster, especially in the first 48 hours.
Can I remove henna if I change my mind?
Henna fades naturally. To speed it up, exfoliate gently or soak in warm water and use an oil-based cleanser.
